Heal the Bay

Hi, my name is Ivan Castro and I am in English 1005A and on September 17th 2016 my friends and I went to Santa Monica to participate in cleaning the beach. It may look like there isn't any trash and that is because you have to look in order to see it. All plastic or any trash you throw on the street ends up in the ocean and since it is plastic it doesn't decompose, it just breaks into smaller pieces.

We gathered more cigarette butts than anything on our list. Not only was I astonished at how much trash there was, I was astonished at how many people smoke. Everything we do impacts the environment in some way and I am thankful for events like this and I will definitely go to the next Heal the Bay gathering.
